Not sure why, this whole editor is basically a love letter to vocaloid 1. But they added tons of support for the vocaloid data in v1 midis. I still used them in v2 anyway but I'd love to use them with the new and improved functions. Ive gotten acclimatised to it but it's still a little annoying.Īlso, vocaloid 2 files and vocalists are no longer supported. But the panel to the left that let's you see every value isn't there, so finding 0 when you're drawing pitch is very frustrating. My biggest issue is you have to draw parameters just like v1, as in control points. It's redeeming vocalists like miku v3 English so much. Phonetic input is also super fast now bc there's two note input modes, and you can zoom and edit at a super close level (like 1/124ths and less in the off grid) and the tiny notes flow very well. The eq could really do with more bands and controls, I wouldn't reccomend totally mixing in v5 but you can get a great rough mix going. Even at the ends of notes and phrases! I gotta say tno lily still needs the normal use to say a t with nothing after it. This on top of the parameters in my eyes has made miku v3 English the more easily usable and versatile of the two. Vocalists like lily and Mayu who had very little give on really complex consonant editing suddenly can. Vocalists are playing back slightly differently in a really good way. A v1 mid and are erased if you apply one of the v5 ones.) (breathiness and clearness can still fully achieve their iconic sounds with a tiny bit of air and or exciter, they're OK!) They work far better of course! The attack and decay controls are like an amazing version of the icon palettes in v1 (which you can actually import from. Air and Exciter are what was Noise and Harmonics in Vocaloid1, so exciting. Solo vocalists have essentially gained the perfect xsy partners for almost anything you want, if you're willing to work in it. It's giving every vocalist an extremely wide range of tones and effects they can make without even touching the accents and decays. I can't testify for Korean, but between English, Japanese, Spanish and Chinese it's great.)Įvery parameter is an improved version of the prior ones in prior editors. (even between languages which was an issue beforehand. If you split things into parts more it's much easier on v5!Īs of 5.2.0: Render and startup time, as well as singer and style change time is practically non existant. The render time is short, so it's not so bad. Since there are more parameters and a super amazing version of the attacks and decays in v1, there's so much more that can go wrong if you play back in the middle. V2 only needed a few notes prior to sound the same. I have a feeling it renders before playing back because, at least for me, the most frustrating thing in v3 and v4, is if you don't play from the beginning of a phrase, the sound could be totally different if you're getting very in depth with tuning. I'm not sure why this is happening to people but I can say I have a lenovo legion and things are a ok! Like, me and a friend have the same ram and such, but their v5 retains glitches from launch (crash on mix down, unconnected to anything prior renders as a like it would for dex and daina, but on chris where its supposed to be a Japanese ).
Some people are having different experiences bc of computer differences and it really sucks. The only glitch left (and one of the only ones I've ever encountered after the first update) is it will crash on loading a very complex vpr (like, if youve used every parameter on like 5 tracks and theres a lot of phonetic editing, and emotion-timing editing, and attacks and decays.) it works on second try usually.
:P Vocaloid 3 is and was almost unusable bevause of glitches for me, so I'm pretty harsh on v5.
They've never been this kind to us before.
They've been updating it and the 4 main vocalists so we've got no shortage of improvements, the last update not only fixed issues but improved a parameter. It's not very glitchy and I'm really happy with vocaloid 5. I can't comment much on styles except they make your life hard when you're a dino ? I do everything manually including vibrato, so Ive only really used styles to tune my harmonies for me so I don't have to do them from scratch. I've been using vocaloid for 8 years, so I'm probably a little antiquated.
My favorite editors are the vocaloid 1 and 2 editors so I'm somewhat biased in how v5 restored a lot of what I found lacking in V3 and 4. I'll be brief and this is probably super messy but I could wax lyrical on this for ever.
